Springfield High School Class of 1951
Track
Springfield High's track team had an overall successful season. In the six man track meets of the year the 'Cats took one first place, two second places, a third, a fourth, and a sixth place. Because of the successful basketball season, Coach Ronemus' harriers had a little late start; however, they soon got under way and displayed the usual Springfield High spirit. In the annual Springfield Relays, we racked up 31 5/6 points to take fourth place. Mansfield, who copped first place, had a total of 53 points. At the Mansfield Relays SHS failed to live up to expectations, managing only a sixth place. This, however, did not discourage the boys. They came back in the following meets to take second place in the Delaware and the Newark meets and first place in the quadrangular meet with Stivers, Hamilton Public, and Urbana.
