Edward A. Young
Edward A. Young, 65, of Urbana, Ohio, passed to peace with God on Thursday morning, December 11, 2008 at home, surrounded by his family.
Edward was born on January 12, 1943 in Springfield to the late Edward A. and Eloise (Shipley) Young.
Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany and three tours of duty in Vietnam. A patriotic man with love of God, family and country, Eddie was a lifetime member of VFW Pierce-Kerns Post in Urbana. He retired from ORBIS in Urbana with 27 years of service. After retirement, he assisted his wife in the business, Thoughts from You. He was a ten year 4-H Rabbit Advisor in Champaign County and was an avid bowler for many years. Sports were a great love and he coached his son in T-ball as well as two of his grandsons. He assisted in coaching his granddaughter in softball. More recently he was a defensive coach for the Rolling Hills Bears Football team. He enjoyed with the boys and felt it was an honor to be part of their team. Over the last few years he also supported Carlos Roberts and the Stivers Basketball Team and Cheerleaders.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Therese; his sons, Kenny (Camille) Young, Kevin Cork and Keith (Marci) Cork; his daughters, Karen Wheeland and Kathy Lowe; beloved grandchildren, Joe Trowbridge II, Michael (Kristina) Wheeland, Jennifer (Jason) Brandt, Josh (Kirby) Swafford, Tricia (Chester) Moore, Payton Cork, Monty Counts, Mackenzie Counts, Kwinten Young, Macaulay Counts, and Kennedy Young; and great grandchildren, Codey Rice, Austin Brandt, Chelsie Brandt, Mikayla Bitzen, Mikenzie Brandt, Donovan Cork, Abigail Moore, Devon Trowbridge, Michael R. Wheeland, and Jack Cork. Also surviving is his sister, Cindi (Mike Huey) Young and his brother-in-law, Ed Boberg. He also leaves his "special family" Mechele, Nick, Logan and Drake Frost, Renee and Bruce Crabill and family as well as other family members and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Springfield.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Vern Tobias of the Urbana Church of the Nazarene officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Dayton National Cemetery.
