William John Woodman, Jr.


William John Woodman Jr., 86, passed on to be with the Lord from Heartland Care Center on Sunday, November 18, 2007.

He was born January 18, 1921 to William J. Woodman Sr. and Ada Hendrickson Semmler.

He was a graduate of Westville High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church in Urbana. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base assigned as a machinist/ tool and die maker with the Air Force Institute of Technology where he won many awards for outstanding accomplishments and inventions. During his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking projects in his shop at home.

He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Charlotte Woodman Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Jane Woodman; mother of his daughters, Nancy E. Twaits; daughters, Barbara Joanne Detwiler, Virginia Alice Rueger, and Nancy Jo Buchanan; step-children, Debbie Mix, Brad Mix, and Greg Mix; grandchildren, Kristy Lynn Mayo, Bradley, Jeffery, Shawn, and Chad Detwiler, Brian and Brenton Rueger, Melissa Perry, and Paula Jo Watkins; and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jared Detwiler, Kortney, Nikki and Corey Dailey, Sophia and Alessandra Rueger, and Taylor and Lexie Perry.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM with a visitation 1 hour prior to Service at JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS Funeral Home - Springfield. Interment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
