Pierre B. VanMalderen
Pierre B. VanMalderen, 88, of Springfield died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 in Community Hospital.
He was born February 10, 1919 in Adarson, Belgium the son of Aloysius and Leontine (Van Der Speen) VanMalderen. He had been employed as a master carpenter for Fry Inc. for thirty-six years retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Carpenters Local 660, F.O.E. #397, Liedertafel Club and the American Wine Society. He also served in the Belgium Army during WW 2 and was a POW during WW2.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Noel and Judy VanMalderen of Springfield, daughter and son-in-law Laurette and Jerry Summers of Dry Ridge, KY; five grandchildren and spouses Carrie and Christine Summers, John and Sarah VanMalderen, Dr. Nicholas VanMalderen, Maria and Tim Rollins; two great grandchildren Landon VanMalderen and Kylie Rollins and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria in 1980 and two sisters Philomane & Martha. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
