Chester F. VanHoose


Chester F. VanHoose, 89 of South Charleston passed away Wednesday May 14, 2008 in Eaglewood Nursing Home.

He was born June 12, 1918 in Volga, KY in Johnson County, the son of Proctor and Rose (Reed) VanHoose.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Merle (LeMasters); two daughters, Carol (Jack) Speer of S. Charleston, Janet Scott of Enon; two sons, Frank (Lesley) and Jeffery (Patricia) all of Boone, N.C.; ten grandchildren, Terri and Steve Paugh, Dee McFarland, Amy and Tim Manning all of S. Charleston, Chris and Katie Levens, Laura Scott of Dayton, Aric and Nikki VanHoose of Springfield, Philip and Lisa Scott of Enon, Angela Neuman of Hilliard and Chaz and Chelsea VanHoose of Boone, N.C.; 13 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

Chester was a member of the Hickory Grove United Baptist Church, an important part of his life along with his family. He retired from Steel Products Engineering Co. after 33 years and enjoyed hunting, especially pheasants.

Chester was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters and 1 brother.

Visitation will be held 4-7PM Friday May 16, 2008 in the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS Funeral Home, Springfield, where service will be held 10AM Saturday May 17, 2008 with Elder Patrick Gilliand officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
