Leah Tingley
Leah Tingley, age 92, passed peacefully October 1, 2008.
Leah was a faithful member of the Hillside Avenue Church of God since 1922, where she served for 50 years in the Toddler's Department, a member of the Women of the Church of God; active in the Missionary Ladies, and in 1996 received a certificate of honor for her years of dedication and service to God and to the Hillside Avenue Women of the Church of God. Leah has been a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program of Clark County senior citizens; in 2005 she was recognized for 30 years of service. She also took part in the Clark County Homemakers club for 45 years. Leah's love for children was evident in the 10 years that she and her husband Bob were foster parents.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years Robert Tingley, one son and two grandsons. She is also preceded in death by Florence B. Neff, affectionately known as Bunny who raised Leah from the age of three.
Leah is survived by her children Shirley (Dan) Valentine, Nancy (Dale) Douglas, Deb (Tom) Veith, Michael (Mary) O'Brien, and Terrell Tingley, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and very dear friend Dottie Mabry.
Family to receive friends from 4 to 8pm Friday, October 3, 2008 at the JACKSON LYTLE WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 2425 N. Limestone St. Funeral service to be held 11:00am Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Hillside Avenue Church of God 2021 Hillside Ave. Burial will follow in the Plattsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the Robert and Leah Tingley Scholarship Fund at the Hillside Avenue Church of God. Family to receive friends one hour prior to the service.
