Jack D. Taylor
Jack D. Taylor, 62, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2007 after a lengthy and valiant battle against a progressive disease.
He was born in Bailey Switch, Kentucky on October 12, 1944. The son of John W. Taylor and Julia (Messer) Taylor. Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. serving from 1962-1966; which included a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He drove for Fisher Beverage Company from 1967- 1985 and then worked in manufacturing positions until 2001. He was a life member of the D.A.V. Chapter 13, he enjoyed going camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Christine, two children and their spouses, John (Misty) Taylor of Urbana, Angel (Mike) York of Virginia; one stepdaughter, Stacey McCoy of Arizona; six grandchildren, Chelsie Davis of Tennessee, Philip, Mary Jo and Tiffany Taylor of Urbana; Britain Gilliam of Virginia and Anthony Haerr of Springfield; his mother, Julia; two brothers, Roger (Mary) Taylor, Maxdale Taylor; two sisters, Martha (Bernard) Ewers and Diana Taylor; one brother-in-law, John (Vickie) Kessel, all of Springfield; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Taylor.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Conroy Funeral Home, with Pastor Richard Blevins officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Vernon-Asbury Cemetery.
