Victor B. Shelburne


Victor B. Shelburne, 85, of Springfield died Sunday, November 11, 2007 in Oakwood Village.

He was born February 21, 1922 in Washington, North Carolina the son of Victor B. and Mary Southall ( James) Shelburne.

Mr. Shelburne earned his Bachelor's Degree from North Carolina State University in Chemical Engineering and was retired from IBM. He moved to Springfield in 2000, joined Christ Episcopal Church and was a member of the Oakwood Village Singers.

He is survived by his wife Jane E. (Becker) Shelburne, to whom he was married May 8, 1948; two sons and a daughter-in-law Dr. Brian and Yvonne "Bonnie" Shelburne of Springfield, Dr. Victor B. Shelburne of Seneca, South Carolina; one daughter and son-in-law Major Jane S. and Lt. Colonel Henry Jay Fisher, both USAir Force (retired); one sister Mary J. McLaurin of High Point, North Carolina; three grandchildren Ian Shelburne, Captain Jayson Fisher U.S. Army Reserve and Mary Fisher; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Emily Joyner and Louise Satherwaite; and his dog "Sparky" who was well known at Oakwood Village.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 25, 2007 in Christ Episcopal Church with Rev. Charlotte Collins Reed officiating. The family will receive visitors following the service in the Guild Room of the church. Inurnment will be in Christ Church Columbarium.

Memorial contributions may be made in Victor's name to Christ Episcopal Church, 409 East High Street, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
