Robert E. Shaw, Sr.


Robert E., Sr., 76, of Springfield, died at 5:28 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in the Ohio Masonic Home.

He was born March 18, 1931 in Clark County to Afton Lee and Celesta (Sherwood) Shaw. He had been employed as a manager for International Steel Wool for 24 years and worked for the city of Springfield for 21 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of Anthony Lodge 455 Free and Accepted Masons, the Union Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles 397.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marie "Pete" (Shoemaker) Shaw; 4 children and spouse, Robert E. "Gene" and Barbara Shaw Jr., Richard G. Shaw, Ed Shaw and Betsy Shaw all of Springfield; eight grandchildren and spouses; 12 great grandchildren; one sister Eula Ramsey of Springfield and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald Shaw and Donald Hock.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Conroy Funeral Home with F.O.E. services at 6:30 and Masonic Services at 6:45. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Keith Rhoden officiating. Burial will follow in Vale Cemetery.
