Dorothy M. (Dottie) Swords

Dorothy M. "Dottie" Swords, departed this life on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 following a brief illness. She was born on February 27, 1918, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Henry I. and Chattie (Smith) Angell. She was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She retired from Mercy Medical Center after thirty-three years.

Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruth DeMent and Hazel DeVore; three brothers: Agusta Angell, Edward Angell, and John Angell, husbands, Melvin J. Messer after thirty-four years of marriage, and John C. Swords after twenty-nine years of marriage, daughter, Vickie (Messer) Hartsough, and grandson, Richard E. Hartsough. She is survived by one granddaughter, Teri L. (Hartsough) Steiner and her precious Yorkie, "Honey".

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 3-5 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am with Chaplain Rick Clos officiating. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.

Dottie was a loving, caring, and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
