David Lee Smith


David Lee Smith, 60, of New Carlisle, Ohio passed away on April 24, 2008.

He was born August 26, 1947 in Dayton, OH.

He was a 1965 graduate of Tecumseh High School, and was enlisted in the US Air Force for the next four years. He worked for DeLille Oxygen Co. in Springfield, Ohio for 39 years. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 286 for 39 years, he was also a member of the Eagles of New Carlisle. David was also a member of several bowling and golf leagues and chose Sugar Isle Golf Country as his home away from home and its patrons as his second family.

He was preceded in death by mother Edna Mae Smith (Sherman) and father Homer L. Smith.

Survived by his wife of 39 years, Sharon Smith (Tallet); 2 daughters, Michelle and Shannon Johnson of Tipp City, OH, Jennifer and Douglas Fell of New Carlisle, OH, and son, Robert Smith and Elizabeta Nickoloff of Columbus, OH; 2 grandchildren, Walker and Skylar Johnson; brother, James and Karen Smith of Lima, OH; sisters Eva Lynn and James Alspaugh of New Carlisle, OH and Anita Conley of New Carlisle, OH, and a host of other friends and family.

Visitation will be held at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL Home, New Carlisle, OH from 4pm to 8pm Monday, April 28th, and funeral services at 11am on Tuesday, April 29th, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the New Carlisle Cemetery, a gathering of family and friends will follow at the American Legion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 124 N. Jefferson St., Dayton, OH 45402.
