Huston Rowlett
The world lost a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and friend on Thursday, October 30, 2008.
Huston Rowlett was 83 years wise and born on November 22, 1924 in Middlesburg, KY. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him; especially by his family: his wife for 61 years, Ruth (Estes) Rowlett and their children and spouses Kenneth & Linda Rowlett, Sam and Tonyia Rowlett, and Carol (Rowlett) & David Scott. They also have 8 grandchildren: Israel, Ruthanna, Shannon, Sammie, Melissa, Melinda, Melody and Tyler. And still another generation of Rowlett heritage, 9 great grandchildren.
Huston was a World War II and Korean War veteran. He was awarded the U.S. Army Bronze Star for bravery. He was a faithful Christian who had been an active member of the Church of God as an usher and a food pantry worker. Huston was a member of the High St. Church of the Nazarene. He is a retired employee of Navistar International after giving the company 31 years of good service. He remained a member of the local 402 of the U.A.W. Huston Rowlett was a role model for his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona and his granddaughter, Melinda Scott and by his great granddaughter, Courtney Cydrus.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. A celebration of Huston's life will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Maiden Lane Church of God with Pastor Dan Fiorini and Pastor Bret Layton officiating. Burial to follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
