Ghery "Sweet T" Rivers


Ghery "Sweet T" Rivers, 49, of Springfield, Ohio passed away December 22, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born September 8, 1959 in Cope, South Carolina a son of Matthew M. and Rosa Lee (Parker) Rivers.

Ghery attended George Washington Carver High School of Cope, South Carolina. He was employed at Pitney Bowes Company in Stanford, Connecticut and was also employed at Metal USA in Springfield, Ohio. He was a hard working man and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Ghery married the love of his life, Liz Robinson Rivers.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife; Liz Robinson Rivers, three sons; Kenneth (Claudette) Roe, John (Toya) Roe and Ray Roe, three foster sons; Savon Dearmond, Raymor Thompson and Tyree Thompson, 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers; Matthew Rivers Jr., Freddie (Mary) Rivers and Willie L. Rivers, five sisters; Carrie Elliott, Alberta Rivers Armstrong, Mary (Thomas) Housey, Patricia (Melvin) Ryant and Rosa (Nathaniel) Phelp, sisters-in-law Tonya Rivers and Gloria (Barry) Mitchell, brothers-in-law; Willie (Katherine) Robinson, Robert (Barbara) Robinson, Ricky (Stacy) Robinson, special aunt and uncle; Lola and A.C. Robinson and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including special friends; George and Maxine Shaw, Delawrence Miller and Tracey Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Linell Parker.

Visitation for Mr. Rivers will be Monday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial in Ferncliff Cemetery. Arrangements provided by the Robert C. Henry Funeral Home.
