Charles W. Nawman


Charles W. Nawman, 88, of Springfield, passed away Friday morning, August 8, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, High St. Campus. He was born in German Township, Ohio on September 7, 1919 the son of Charles W. and Goldie (Callison) Nawman.

He was a graduate of New Moorefield High School. Charles served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army serving in the Pacific Theater. In 1992, he retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Company after 36 years of service. He was a member of the Ohio Bell Pioneers Group.

He is survived by his two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn K. and Charles Spencer and Linda J. Nawman, all of Springfield; a granddaughter, Deborah L. (Jeff) Dill of West Liberty; four great grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby, Jeffrey, and Sarah; three nieces; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 59 years, Wilma P. (Ervin) Nawman in 2005; a son, James W. Nawman; two sisters, Eva Nawman and Phyllis Luster; and a grandson, Charles Brian Spencer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1-3 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Will Stackhouse officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Drs. Michael McKee and Pius Kurian and the nursing staff at Community Hospital for the devoted care given to Charles during his illness.
