Harry W. Miller


Harry W. "Junior" Miller, 84, of Springfield passed away Friday, June 13, 2008. He was born May 18, 1924 in Xenia the son of Harry Solomon and Fatina (Shaw) Miller.

Mr. Miller enlisted in the United States Army immediately after his graduation from Selma High School in 1943. He served in Northern France, the Rhineland and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he came to Springfield and went into the restaurant business and was Owner/operator of the Silver Swan, Main Hamburger, Brown Derby and Ginny's U-Drive-In. He retired from Robbins & Myers with over twenty years service, then moved to Texas and worked for McDonalds Restaurants until he returned to Springfield in 1993. He was a member of the Wings of Love Church and VFW Post 1031.

Junior is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law Larry M. and Debbie Miller of Weldon Spring, Missouri, Rev. Danny R. and Cheryl Miller of Springfield, Thomas J. and Pamela Miller of Mesquite, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law Linda S. and Gary L. Bowman, and Rose M. Stringfellow all of Springfield; two brothers Raymond (Mercie) Miller, and Gail (Karen) Miller of Springfield; two sisters Mabel Haynes of Cedarville, and Anita (John) Moore of Springfield; a sister-in-law Lee Miller of Fairborn; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; good friends Sonny Crabtree and Norma Shropshire.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia D. Miller in 2001; five brothers Robert, Jimmy and John Miller and two infants; three sisters Betty Jane Dillman, Wanda Cornell and Mary Lou Miller.

The family will receive visitors Monday from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM. in the Wings of Love, 112 Dartmouth Road, Springfield. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM. in the church with Rev. Danny Miller and Rev. Don Young officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM. in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family is being served by RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME.
