Joseph A. Lins, Jr.


Joseph A. Lins, Jr., 92 of Springfield, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 7:15 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2008 in his residence after a brief illness.

He was born March 13, 1915 in Springfield, OH the son of Joseph A. and Christine (Barth) Lins, Sr. and was a life long resident of Springfield, OH.

He married Mary Elizabeth (Sis) Nevius of Springfield, OH on August 25, 1945, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Joe retired from Cooper Energy Services on Sheridan Ave. after 47 years of service, working in the factory, tool and machine shop, and Methods Engineering Department. He was a WW II veteran of the United States Army, and served for six years in the Persian Gulf Command, operating a vehicle maintenance facility on the supply route from the Persian Gulf to the Russian front. Joe was a family man and avid bowler, sailor, golfer. He and Sis enjoyed traveling and visiting family. He was also a skilled Euchre player and enjoyed playing Friday afternoons at the Springfield Elderly United and was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #624, VFW Post 1031, Persian Gulf Command Veterans Organization - WW II and the Elderly United.

Survivors include two sons and spouses, Paul J. (Anne) Lins of Bow, NH and Keith T. (Ann) Lins of Troy, OH; seven grandchildren and spouses, Christopher (Julie) Lins, Hooksett, NH, Nicole (Willie) Dickerson, Troy, OH, Aimee (Guillaume) Beaurpere, Colorado Springs, CO, Douglas (Kate) Lins, Troy, OH, Sarah (Todd) Downer, Strafford, NH, Maggie (Eben) Wheeler, Weddington, NC and Andrew (Danielle) Lins, Springfield, OH; one sister, Rita A. Lins of Springfield; sixteen great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Lins after 57 years together and a brother Eugene (Red) Lins.

Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday in St. Teresa Catholic Church with Fr. Ed Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
