John W. "Jack" Linkenhoker
John W. "Jack" Linkenhoker, 77, of Springfield, died Monday morning, January 28, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center.
He was born in Springfield on August 25, 1930 the son of William and Helen (Barrett) Linkenhoker.
Following graduation from Catholic Central High School, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After working for the Springfield Fire Division for many years, Jack retired as a building contractor. Following his retirement, he worked at Sears for several years. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and V.F.W. Post 1031.
Survivors include his two daughters, Beth Chaney of Independence, Kansas and Melissa (Jim) Blackmore of Bristol, Virginia; three granddaughters, Chelsea Chaney and Caroline and Gracyn Blackmore; and a brother, Jim Linkenhoker of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Beverly J. (Jones) Linkenhoker in 2006 and his parents.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Deacon Norm Horstman officiating. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday.
