James Randolph Larimore

James Randolph "Randy" Larimore, 52, of Mechanicsburg, formerly of Springfield, passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 in his residence. He was born April 26, 1956 in Springfield, the son of John D. and Alice Elizabeth (Richenberg) Larimore.

Randy spent most of his life involved with motor racing. He crewed for several championship NHRA drag racing teams and worked at Frank Hawley's drag racing school for several years. He was well known in APBA hydroplane racing and made many friends while traveling the country with several different boat racing series. He was always most at home, and happiest, at the race track or race course. As he always said, the racing world is one big family.

He is survived by his mother; Alice Larimore, Springfield, brothers and sister; Robert (Rita) Larimore, Springfield, Eva Suzanne "Suzie" Downey, Springfield, John Richard (Peggy) Larimore, Alabama, Michael D. (Mary) Olmstead, Springfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father. It was his wish to be cremated. His family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME followed by a brief memorial service conducted by Pastor Roger Sparks and Pastor Dee Craycraft.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Freedom Road Ministry at 1080 Sunset Avenue, Springfield, Ohio 45505.
