Gilbert L. Locke


Gilbert L. Locke, 88, of South Vienna passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, July 27, 2008 in his residence.

He was born December 19, 1919 in Catawba, Ohio, the son of Lincoln and Glenna (Jones) Locke.

Gilbert was a life long farmer, past President of the Cattlemens Association, former Director of the Federal Land Bank Association, former member of Northeastern School Board, member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and a member of the I.O.O.F Lodge. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Mae Eyman (Davis) Locke; two daughters, Judy (Bill) Haggy and Sandy Burkley; two step-daughters, Sandi Eyman and Jackie (Larry) Lemons; step-son, Bill Eyman; eight grandchildren, Candy, Bret, Alison, Richie, Warren, Erin, John and Tess; two step-grandchildren, Tyler (Traci) and Bradley; two great grandchildren, Nolan and Ashlynn and one step-granddaughter, Alex.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife of 49 years, Margaret (Olinger) Locke; daughter, Linda Angelo; son, Rich Locke and two brothers, Gayle and Robert Locke.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 3 p.m. in the United Church of South Vienna, 227 East Main, South Vienna, Ohio 45369 with Reverend Scott Griswold.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church or Community Mercy Hospice, 1343 North Fountain Blvd. Springfield, Ohio 45504. The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
