Georgia Lucille Lear


Georgia Lucille (Smith) Lear, 85, a resident of Oakwood Village, died Saturday morning, May 17, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, Fountain Campus. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on August 30, 1922 the daughter of Virgil and Ruth (Weaver) Smith.

Georgia retired from Olan Mills following 30 years of service. She was a member of Hillside Church of God.

Georgia is survived by three children and spouses, Carollyn D. and Michael Ewers of Springfield, Ernest E. and Lee Lear of Tucson, Arizona, and Brett V. (Edwina) Lear of Springfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Jim of Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Sandra Smith of Florida; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest F. Lear in 1989; a daughter, Beverly Marie Jones; two sisters, Elsie and Barbara; and two brothers, Junior and Charlie Smith.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Criner officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
