Charles T. (Chuck) Layton
Charles T. "Chuck" Layton, 69, of Springfield, died Tuesday morning, September 4, 2007 in Good Shepherd Village.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 23, 1938 the son of Charles T. and Wilma (Kraft) Layton. Chuck retired as a supervisor from Navistar International after 38 years of service and was a U.S. Navy veteran. His passions in life were Indiana University basketball and his wife, Carol.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Carol (Walthall) Layton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Mark Pickering of Leesburg, Ohio and Donna and Doug Buffenbarger of Springfield; a step-daughter, Kim Shenfeld of Denver, Colorado; a brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Melba Layton of Wheaton, Illinois; six grandchildren, Marshall, Carrie and Hannah Pickering and Dylan, Luke and Blaine Buffenbarger; and two nieces, Stacey Circelli and Emily Diefenthaler. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A time to celebrate Chuck's life and mourn his passing will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service.
