Carl E. Ketterer
Carl E. Ketterer, 90, of Springfield passed away on, Sunday, October 5, 2008 in his residence.
He was born on July 29, 1918 in Ironton, Ohio the son of Otto and Clara (Heaberlin) Ketterer. He served our country in the United States Air Force during World War II as an Aerial Gunner on B-17s, flying twenty-six missions over Germany. Carl retired from SPECO after twenty years of service and was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ. He was an accomplished guitarist. He, along with his wife Geneva, who preceded him in death in 2005, provided musical entertainment at many fairs, festivals, and parties.
He is survived by niece, Bonnie Hoberty of Springfield, several great nieces and nephews, special friend, Bucky Johnson, and many good friends and neighbors.
A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 in the First United Church of Christ, 2000 East High St., Springfield, with the Reverend Gail Eastwood officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to German Township Fire Department or the First United Church of Christ. The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
