Charles "Dean" Jackson


Charles "Dean" Jackson, 79, of Springfield, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2008, in Community Hospital.

He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on November 3, 1928 the son of Charles E. and Miriam I. (Rockwell) Jackson.

He retired from International Harvester after many years of service. He was an avid golfer, an Army veteran of the Korean War and had a lifelong love of jazz and compiled an incomparable collection of jazz albums over his lifetime.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma J. (Keleher); two children, Debra Whaley of Springfield and Bob (Valerie) Jackson of South Carolina; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

His funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Conroy Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
