William P. "Wild Bill" Holfinger
William P. "Wild Bill" Holfinger, 70, of Springfield, died Saturday afternoon, June 16, 2007 in Heartland of Springfield following a brief illness.
He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 5, 1937 the son of the late John F. and Ruth (Preston) Holfinger. Bill received his Masters degree in English from Marshall University. He endowed a scholarship at the University of South Charleston for English. He retired as a Coordinating Manager from Speedway SuperAmerica. Prior to working at Speedway he taught English at the junior high, high school and university levels. He was an avid golfer and reader, a wonderful grandfather, and will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his daughter, Margit Holfinger of Plymouth, Michigan; son and daughter-in-law, Christian and Jackie Holfinger of London, Ohio; a brother, John Richard Holfinger of Castroville, Texas; a grandson, Anthony D. Holfinger; and a great circle of friends and colleagues.
A time to celebrate and remember Bill's life will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Clark County Humane Society, 5201 Urbana Rd., Springfield, Ohio 45502 or your favorite animal shelter.
