Richard M. Hall
Richard M. Hall, 85, of Springfield, Ohio, died on August 28, 2007 at Oakwood.
He was born on October 28, 1921 in East Liverpool, Ohio to Oliver Edward "Dick" Hall and Isabel Shingler Hall.
Richard was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Doris Mae Neiser Hall, his parents, two brothers, Roger A. Hall and Dr. Allen W. Hall, and son-in-law, Lt. Col. John L. Byrd, USAF Retired.
He is survived by daughters, Kathy H. Byrd of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Janet Anne (Ed) Collins of Columbus, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hall (Dick) Smith of Fairfield, and Helen Hall of Columbus; nephews, Steve (Marsha) Hall of Aurora, IL, Jeff (Terry) Hall of Fairfield, Bob Hall of Columbus, and Rick (Tamara) Hall of Hingham, MA; and 6 great-nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends, Jim and Joan Foreman and their children who knew him as Grandpa Hall, and dear friend, Pat Goodrich.
Richard (Dick) proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was stationed in Guam as part of the 20th Air Force, and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1946. He was honored to be a part of the third Honor Flight that takes WWII Vets to see their monument in Washington, D.C. He was a 1949 graduate of the Ohio State University with a B.A. in Business Administration.
Dick's career included Comptroller and C.F.O. of Chakeres Theatres of Springfield, Ohio; Director of Finance and Administration for the City of Orlando, Florida; C.F.O. of Hubbard Construction Co. of Orlando; and Administrator of a Dayton law firm.
He was a member of the East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and its Old Guard, having graduated in 1939; a member of the University Club; the O.S.U. Alumni Association; the H.S. Kissell Masonic Lodge 674; and was a past Monarch of the Khana Shahar Grotto in Springfield. He faithfully served as a member and officer in High Street United Methodist Church, Springfield, and First United Methodist Church, Orlando.
Dick's three passions were golf, volunteering at the Springfield Regional Cancer Center, and being a roadrunner with his Masonic brothers from the Grotto.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 5:30 pm at High Street United Methodist Church, Springfield, Ohio, the Rev. Cary Simonton officiating. A service of remembrance for Dick and Doris will be held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 1:00 pm at the Chapel of Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool, Ohio, the Rev. Sutton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard's memory to Humanitarian Foundation, Dental Care for Children with Special Needs, 430 Beecher Rd, Gahanna, Ohio 43230, or Springfield Regional Cancer Center, 148 W. North St, Springfield, Ohio 45504.
