Charles Owen Hull, Sr.


Charles Owen Hull, Sr. 89, of Springfield, left his earthly body during a beautiful passage journey at 9:15 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2007 in the Hospice of Dayton.

As they did throughout his life here, Owen's children and their families attended and supported his passage journey.

He was born on November 3, 1918 in Pitchin, Ohio, the son of George and Ethel (Cultice) Hull. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II, European Theatre, Company L 3rd Infantry Regiment, Old Guard. He retired from Olan Mills and Community Hospital. He also was one of the last employees for the Crowell-Collier Company in Springfield, working for a brief time in New York City. Owen was a member of the Story-Hypes United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Doc Flannery of Midland, and Candy and John Wilson of Springfield; two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles "Chuck" O. Jr. and Linda Hull of Enon, and Jim and Meghan Hull of Loudon, Tennessee; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joyce Hull of Springfield; grandchildren: Jeff and Vickie Flannery, Jackie Scott, Kevin and Denise Hull, Kellee and Rob Mercer, Amy and Grady Rogers, Jaime Hull and Ryan (Kim) Hull; great grandchildren: Tiffani and Howard Davis, Shannon, Dustin, and Justin Scott, Derek and Brandon Hull, Lauren Mercer, and Lily Hull; several nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty-six years, Ontha M. Hull, three brothers, two sisters, and great granddaughter, Heather Flannery.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will be held on Thursday at 10:00am with Mr. Kevin Hull officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and special nephew, Gary Hull.
