Margaret C. (DeWitt) Gannon


Margaret C. (DeWitt) Gannon, 66, of Springfield, died at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007 surrounded by her family in Community Hospital following complications from lung cancer.

She was born December 7, 1940 in Springfield, Ohio to Harry L. and Kathryn B. (Haley) DeWitt. She had worked for many years and retired from International Harvester Company and Springfield Federal Savings and Loan and additionally enjoyed being a lifelong homemaker. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph Church, Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio and was heavily involved in 4-H and served as District Democratic Chairperson.

Survivors include her three children and spouses, Julie (Ned) Brugger, Urbana, Michael (Betsy) Gannon, New Carlisle and Amy Howard, South Vienna; nine grandchildren, Mary Kathryn, Natalie, Mitchell and John Brugger, Taylor and Haley Gannon and Sean, Cole and Ashley Howard; a number of nieces and nephews; special cousins, Judy Haskins, Tom Gardner and Patty Schaefer; long time friends, Ron and Del Shay and Chuck Johnson and Sherry Setty. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Richard, William and Gene DeWitt.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. M. Ranginwala and Dr. Morman for their special care and all the staff at Community Hospital that participated in her care.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday in Conroy Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday in St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, Ohio or St. Joseph Church.
