Joan M. Grieser


Joan M. Grieser, 77, of Springfield died in Community Hospital Tuesday, September 9, 2008 following a brief illness. She was born July 1, 1931 in Peshtigo, Wisconsin the daughter of Frank and Marie (Longley) Bair.

Joan served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and there she met Harry Edward Grieser and they were married on September 8, 1951. Following their military service they moved to Springfield, where Joan worked thirty-four years for Sears and was a member of Rockway Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years, Harry Edward Grieser, one daughter and son-in-law Tana and Thomas Elliott; three grandsons Tyler, Troy (Sierra), and Trent Elliott, all of Springfield; three brothers and sisters-in-law Francis and Jean Bair of Algoma, Wisconsin, James and Teasa Bair of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Dennis and Rita Bair of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Ron Sariego of St. Peters, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her son Terry Grieser in 1974; brothers George, Thomas and Kenneth Bair; and a sister Joyce Van Driesse.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 12 Noon in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME with Rev. Wendell Hakala officiating. The family will receive visitors Saturday from 10 AM. until 12 Noon in the Memorial Home. Burial will be in Vale Cemetery.
