Emma Jean George


Emma Jean George, 86, of Springfield, died Friday afternoon, December 26, 2008 in Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus. She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on January 5, 1922 the daughter of Daniel and Esta M. (Brown) George.

Emma retired from International Steel Wool after 26 years of service. She was a former member of Maiden Lane Church of God.

She is survived by two nephews, Mike (Leslie) Slye and Dan Slye, both of Springfield; a great niece, Hannah Slye; two great nephews, Timothy and Dustin Slye; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Ivon Slye, and a brother, Frank George.

Emma's funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Charles Miller officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
