Fianna M. DeLong
Fianna M. DeLong, 87, died peacefully Christmas Day. (2007)
She was born September 9, 1920 to John and Alta (Kidwell) Rexroth and was a lifelong Springfield resident.
Fianna was a 1962 graduate of Wittenberg University and the first student to graduate taking night classes. She also attended Antioch College and earned a Master in Education from Wright State University. She taught at Horace Mann, Oscar T. Hawke, Donnelsville Elementary and Indian Valley Schools and was named a National Leader in Education in 1971.
Fianna is survived by a sister; Donna (Virgil) Anderson, Denton, TX; 2 brothers, Art (Hisako) Rexroth, Marina, CA and Dick Rexroth, West Union, OH; 3 sons, John (Marian) DeLong, David (Pat) DeLong and James (Debbie) DeLong all of Springfield; 5 granddaughters, Renee (Rex) Hughes, Michelle (Rick)DeLong, Yvette (Gary) Crawford, Stephanie DeLong and Allex Adams; 2 grandsons, Matthew DeLong and Jordan Adams; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John DeLong in 1974.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Rose Hill Burial Park with Rev. Ken Woode officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her son, James DeLong, 249 Forest Dr., Spfld., OH following the service. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity.
