Harry L. Comer
Harry L. Comer, 85, of Springfield died Monday, September 22, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on December 31, 1922, the son of Frank Benjamin and Arrie (Sexton) Comer.
Harry was a member of Anthony Lodge #455 F & A M and VFW Post #1031. He served his country in the U S Army Air Corp in the Incredible 305th Bomber Group in the 365th Squadron as a Staff Sergeant, flying in 30 missions over Germany, France, Belgium, and Denmark as a waist gunner. Harry retired as a machinist from the SPECO Division of Kelsey-Hayes with 48 years of service. He was known as a wonderful gardener and his family thought of him as a beloved husband and the greatest dad and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Kenneth, John "Jack", and William.
Harry has left to cherish his memories his wife Iolene N. (Storey) Comer, whom he married August, 1943; one son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Vicki Comer; one sister Eileen Binder all of Springfield; one grandson Todd Comer; two great-grandchildren Todd and Brock Comer; several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial to follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to Elderly United.
