H. Kenneth Cherry
H. Kenneth Cherry, 87, of Springfield, died unexpectedly, Monday morning in his residence.
He was born in South Charleston on June 28, 1921 the son of Harley L. and Nancy O. (Welsheimer) Cherry.
Ken graduated from South Charleston High School in 1939 and his family moved to Springfield in 1940. He graduated from Springfield Business College and began working for National Supply Co. which later became Cooper Industries. He retired from Cooper in 1978 after 37 years of service. Ken was a life member and past president of F.O.E. Aerie 397 and was a member of the Union Club.
He is survived by his three children, Thomas L. Cherry, Stephen P. (Debra) Cherry, and Nikki E. Cherry, all of Springfield; a granddaughter, Lindsay R. Cherry of Springfield; a dear friend, Kenny Wise of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 35 years, Jeanne (Speers) Cherry in 1980; and a brother, Lilburne W. Cherry in 1991.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home with Pastor John Pollock officiating.
Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
