Elizabeth Hay Cirak
Elizabeth Hay Cirak, 87, of Springfield, died Wednesday morning, August 22, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by the "light of her life", her spouse of 67 years, Alfred Cirak on May 18, 2007. Elizabeth was born on January 19, 1920 in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania the ninth of thirteen children born to Kenneth D. and Lou (Moore) Hay. She was a graduate of Norristown High School, Class of 1937.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Jean Cirak of Daniels, West Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Carlton Mason of Urbana, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jennifer Massara of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Peter Michael (Erika) Cirak of North Andover, Massachusetts and their mother, Nancy Cirak of Tampa, Florida, John Michael Mason of Westerville, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth Mason of Columbus, Ohio, and C. Benjamin Mason of Urbana, Ohio; two great grandsons, Joshua and Jonathan Massara of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and as grandchildren, Andrew and Mary Jo Leu of McLean, Virginia. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Cook of Fairview, Oregon; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Grace Hay of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Katherine Roach of Norristown, Pennsylvania; and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth retired after 27 years at Battelle Memorial Institute, Columbus, Ohio and is currently a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where until recently she volunteered in the church office. She has been an active member of the Oakwood Village community for the past three years. For many years she had been a staunch supporter of missionaries and was on the Board of Directors of the Merry Andrews and Company, clown ministry.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Beverly M. DeBord officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
