Barbara J. Cooke


Barbara J. Cooke, 79, of Springfield died Friday, May 23, 2008 in Forest Glen Health Campus.

She was born in Springfield, Ohio on February 6, 1929, the daughter of John Ernest and Helen Mae (Swartz) Gower.

Barb was a member and past president of the Northridge Lioness Club and was a volunteer at Mercy Medical Center for many years. Barb was a 1947 graduate of the Springfield High School. She retired as the office manager at Modish Craftsman Company with 37 years of service.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors include her husband Lee A. Cooke, whom she married June 4, 1949; two daughters and sons-in-law Nancy and Carter Feltner of Springfield and Karen and Charles Efstration of Atlanta, GA; one brother and sister-in-law John E. and Sue Ann Gower of Hilltop Lakes, TX; seven grandchildren Amy (Doug) Erter, Christi (David) Oberrieth, Morgan and Jake Feltner, Chuck, Katie, and Sara Efstration; four great-grandchildren Ben, Abigail, and Isabella Erter, and Noah Oberrieth; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:30 PM in the Richards, Raff & Dunbar Memorial Home. Family and friends may call two hours prior to services. Burial to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the Northridge Lioness Club 4590 Derr Road Springfield, Ohio 45503.
