Viola M. Bailey
Viola M. Bailey, 87, of Springfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 27, 2007 in her residence.
She was born on December 13, 1919 in Springfield the daughter of George H. and Virginia (Poole) Kushmaul. She was a lifelong active member of the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Bailey was devoted to serving her church in the nursery for more than two decades as well as participating in the Judson Class. She always put others needs above her own. While she was raising her three children, she kept active in Cub Scouts and 4-H Club serving as a mentor and leader to her children and others. Viola loved landscaping and interior decorating. Her family remembers her delicious cooking and expertise in canning goods. She also worked in the Service Department at Sears for sixteen years.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband and best friend of sixty-six years, Kenneth Bailey of Springfield, two sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth "Rick" and Judy Bailey of New Carlisle, Randy and Nona Bailey of Springfield, one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Terry O'Neal of Springfield; five brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Rosemary Kushmaul, Carl and Martha Kushmaul, Tom and Jan Kushmaul all of Springfield, Ronnie and Linda Kushmaul of Columbus, and William and Carole Kushmaul of Arizona; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Lawrence Hill, and one brother, George Kushmaul.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007 from 5-8 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday May 1st at 10:30 am in the First Baptist Church, 638 South Fountain Ave. Springfield, with Pastor Ken Whitt officiating. Burial will be in the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and care they received from Community Mercy Hospice.
