John D. Bonner


John D. Bonner, 86, of Beavercreek, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 in his residence. He was born June 14, 1922 in Berlin, Alabama the son of Jesse W. and Lydia O. (Nichols) Bonner.

He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II, Pacific Fleet, USS Sabine. Mr. Bonner retired from Delco Products in 1983 after thirty-nine years of service. During his time at Delco he was a Union Representative and was Vice President of Triangle Credit Union for over twenty years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and enjoyed cards and telling stories. John could light up a room with his presence and was a friend to all he met. He was the consummate family man and had no greater joy in this world than spending time with beloved wife Ona and his family.

He is survived by his wife Ona (Golden) Bonner of sixty-three years, four children and their spouses: Susie Varner of Beavercreek; John and Pam Bonner of Beavercreek; Jim and Angel Bonner of Virginia; Jackie and Jack Thorpe of Xenia; ten grandchildren: Mike, Dawn, Jodi, JoAnn, Julie, April, Amber, Jennifer, Jessica, and Jillian; nineteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 29, 2008 from 5-8 pm at the Tobias Funeral Home, Belmont Chapel. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery.

The family is being served by the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, Springfield.
