Henry E. "Red" Bobo
Henry E. "Red" Bobo, 87 of Springfield, died Sunday morning, January 27, 2008 in Villa Springfield following one year of failing health. He was born in Springfield on December 11, 1920 the son of the late Glendon E. and Esther (Dobbie) Bobo.
Red was a graduate of Springfield High School and attended Wittenberg College. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a gunner's mate on a P-61 Black Widow bomber also known as the WWII Night Fighters. He retired as an accountant after working for several lumber companies and real estate brokers. He was a member of St. Andrew's Lodge 619 F. & A.M.
He is survived by two nieces, Debbie Mansfield of Springfield and Carol (Prather) Wood of Arizona; a nephew, Mark Shepard of Florida; numerous great nieces and nephews including Amy Mansfield and Jennifer (Toby) Price of Springfield and Carrie (Brian) Windham of Texas; and many great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Miller) Bobo in 1993 and a sister, Georgia Prather.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Villa Springfield for their devoted care. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
