George W. Baker
George W. Baker, 86, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2007 in the Doctor's Hospital West, Columbus.
He was born on July 7, 1921 in Mechanicsburg, Ohio the son of John E. and Lula (Voris) Baker.
George served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Anthony Lodge No. 455 F. & A. M., Machinist Union, The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Springfield Moose Family Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 397 Aerie.
He had fun with friend's playing cards, golf, bowling and other activities.
George is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: April and Dick Kreitz of Alabama; and Melanie and Doug McCain of Columbus; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Terry L. Baker of Springfield; and Kevin and Melissa Baker of Hilliard, one sister and daughter-in-law, Thelma and Buddy Hill of Texas, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Ellie Baker on August 25, 2003, his parents, one daughter, Tanya M. Baker, and sister, Mary McClain.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007 from 1-3 pm in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where the service will begin at 3:00 pm following visitation.
Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Mausoleum.
