Frederick Dick Bruner
Frederick Dick Bruner, 88, of Springfield, passed away, on Friday, December 12, 2008 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 22, 1920 in Akron, Ohio the son of Charles and Helen Bruner.
He served our country during World War II in the United States Army, Special Troops 6th Infantry Division and was awarded five Bronze Stars. Dick was an Electrician, Salesman, and manager at Blommel Sign Company for many years. He enjoyed working out daily and playing racquetball, golf, handball, and basketball. Fred also won the Senior Olympics in partner racquetball.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Lorine Smith of Springfield; one daughter, Patricia Villari of Columbus, granddaughter and her spouse, Andrea Knoch and Seth Oakley of Columbus, one sister, Virginia Kuck of California; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas and Joseph.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to National Veterans Foundation.
