Carl L. Andrus
Carl L. Andrus, 71, of South Charleston, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, October 1, 2008 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on December 22, 1936 the son of Howard and Dorothy (Gump) Andrus.
Carl was a farmer for over 50 years. He was a member of Plattsburg United Church of Christ, Tremont Grange and Harmony Township Grange. He served as a 4-H Advisor with the Harmony Township Livestock Club and as a coach with the Northeastern Summer League Baseball. He loved bowling, hunting, and collecting farm equipment and antiques.
Carl is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy (Leslie) Andrus; five children and spouses, Marcia and Eric Dreiseidel of Marysville, Julie and Doug Ayres of Springfield, Sherri and Keith Bennett of Springfield, J. Todd Andrus of New Carlisle, and Amy and Roger Smith of South Vienna; ten grandchildren, Gretchen and Brandan Dreiseidel, Matt and Zach Ayres, Leslie, Andrea and Adam Bennett, Lane and Mara Andrus, and Megan Smith; and a great grandson, Lucas Ayres. Also surviving are three sisters, Jean McFatridge of Springfield, Lois Moore of Springfield and Ruth Millhouse of Troy; two brothers, Edward (Mary) Andrus and Don (Carol) Andrus, both of Springfield; a cousin, Lodel (Kristina) Kananen of Aurora, Illinois; and many special friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Pauline Brumfield; and two infant brothers, Howard Maxwell and Walter Edward Andrus.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Glennyce Grindstaff officiating.
